He is passionate about helping people live a health-conscious lifestyle so they can feel the best they can.
He says: “Sports and fitness have always been my first love, rock climbing, weightlifting, martial arts and rugby as a young man up until joining the Royal Marine Commandos. With my wife Dr Lauren Airey we set up CJA Lifestyle to help those suffering from obesity get the lifestyle advice and treatment required to lose weight and gain the myriad of health benefits that this can bring. The results our patients achieve are amazing.
“As I grew older, I became more interested in men’s and hormonal health. The benefits of lifestyle interventions such as nutrition and exercise are vital but sometimes there can be a missing piece to the puzzle. As I hit 37 years old, I started to suffer from symptoms of testosterone deficiency. I became irritable, had low libido, had no energy, felt tired all the time and began falling asleep in the day. I had gone from running and weightlifting daily to being not motivated to train. I had my testosterone levels checked and found them to be low and realised that I do not have to accept feeling this way.
“I started to research the effects of testosterone and the health benefits of testosterone optimisation. On starting treatment the improvement in the way I felt and my quality of life was astounding. I returned to weightlifting and crossfit and started to enjoy physical exercise again. My libido returned and I felt vast improvements in my energy and motivation.” Dr Chris has completed a post graduate diploma in Endocrinology to further increase his knowledge in hormonal health.
“I set up CJA Balance to help those who suffer from testosterone deficiency get the gold standard treatment to help them improve their lives. I refused to accept that we should all just grow old gracefully and view the symptoms of testosterone deficiency as a fact of life when it can be safely and effectively treated.
“I believe in a patient-focused approach with no two people being the same, so it was astounding to me that the one size fits all approach to the treatment of testosterone deficiency should still be common practice. Keeping up to date with the latest research and developments in this new and exciting field of medicine is what drives me and transferring this knowledge to improve my patients’ lives is the greatest satisfaction I have found since becoming a doctor.
“Testosterone replacement isn’t some magic panacea, but in tandem with physical exercise and a healthy lifestyle the improvement patients can see and that I have experienced first-hand can be immeasurable.”
