Your CJA Doctor will discuss the options available and prescribe the appropriate treatment for you.  This might be a testosterone gel which is applied topically to your arms or shoulders, or an injection into the shoulder, leg or glute muscle.

If you are unsure whether you have low testosterone levels, please take our low testosterone quiz or order an initial testosterone blood test. Some people prefer to have an enhanced blood test instead.

Testogel

Testogel is the most convenient way to ensure optimal testosterone levels because it is a gel that you simply rub it in once a day!  The testosterone is then absorbed through the skin into the bloodstream.  Testogel should only be applied by the man being treated. You should shower before applying the gel to allow it to be absorbed effectively. Apply the gel onto clean, dry, healthy, unbroken skin over the shoulders, upper arms or abdomen.

If contact is likely between the application area and someone other than the patient, the area should be washed before contact occurs. This reduces the risk of transfer of the testosterone, particularly to women or children.

Testosterone Enanthate

Testosterone enanthate is used in Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) to replace the testosterone usually produced by men and to improve the symptoms of low testosterone.  It is injected into the muscle tissue in the buttocks either once per week or split into two doses and injected every few days, depending on the individual.  The dosage is based on your testosterone blood levels and response to treatment.

Nebido

Nebido is injected every 8-10 weeks into the muscle tissue on the thigh or upper glute allowing the testosterone to be slowly released over time. This means that a steady blood level can be better sustained. The low injection frequency allows Nebido to be injected by a health professional so you can avoid self injection if you wish.   Nebido works by slowly releasing testosterone from a depot of oil left under the skin.

Testosterone Cypionate

Testosterone cypionate comes only in the form of an injectable solution into the muscle on the thigh or upper glute allowing the testosterone to be slowly released over time. Your dosage depends on your age and diagnosis and your CJA Balance doctor will decide a dosage based on your needs.

Sustanon

Sustanon is an injectable oil that contains the active ingredient testosterone.  It contains four compounds which release testosterone into the body at differing rate, allowing a more steady blood level to be sustained. Injections are usually carried out every 5-7 days deep into a muscle where the testosterone is gradually released into the bloodstream.
